SFHOMELESS YAHOO GROUP'S PLACES & MAPS DATABASE APPLICATION IS NOW UP AND RUNNING !
We have started a new Places and Maps Database which is available to all SFHomeless Yahoo! Group Members at the SFHomeless Yahoo! Group site.
This makes it easy to locate community resources fast, with a map that moves as you click on various Places and Addresses.
AFTER you log into the Your SFHomeless Yahoo! Group siteaccount, go to the BETA APPLICATIONS Menu Option and look for the Places and Maps Application.
As you select or click on each Place listing, the MAP will travel with you, as you scroll down the page to read about each place that serves FREE MEALS to our hungry San Franciscans.
Walking up and down hills in this City burns up a lot of calories you need to stay healthy, so PLEASE, pass this information onto everyone you know, so we can all EAT WELL.
NOTE ABOUT THE PLACES DATABASE AND MAPS:
In addition to listing Places with Free Meals, we are adding the other basic resources like Shelter Beds, Clinics, Service Centers, Police Stations, Fire Stations, etc. to the Places Database, so we do not get lost out here....
As far as Free Meals and other places go, you may enter in your comments and experiences with each place. This way we have an 'in real time' reality check about what we can expect to get to find or see at each place, over time.
*** SAFE PLACES ***
Our Moderators will be marking Places in which any of us feel VERY SAFE at like this: *** SAFE PLACES ***, so that you can go there when you need to feel really safe and avoid Places that are Not Very Safe.
Any place that has VIOLENCE or LOW QUALITY SERVICES will be marked, as such. We will review and change these markings when the conditions at that Place change.
Any place that has no marking, has either not been checked out or it is not too bad for you.
WHEN WE LEARN ABOUT ANY MAJOR PROBLEM, SAFETY CONCERN OR HEALTH PROBLEM AT ANY PLACE, WE WILL POST AN ALERT UNTIL THE CONDITION CHANGES.
Enjoy the technology we are bringing to you so you can become more independent, informed and have tools to help you be safe and make better decisions for your self and your peers, clients and fellow San Franciscans.
FEEL FREE TO SEND US INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR SERVICE, SHELTER, RESOURCE OR OTHER PLACE YOU WISH TO HAVE IN THIS PLACES DATABASE.

Here are some of the meals served at SF Homeless Shelters
Honestly, would you serve meals like this, to your family or friends ?
SFHomeless Yahoo! Group -Homeless in San Francisco
What's it really like to be home-less in San Francisco ?
Ask any one of the several thousand poor and homeless residents living here.
...'We spend the first half of each day waiting in lines to eat.'
'Almost every night, we wait 5 or 6 hours in lines, to get a 1 night shelter bed.'
'So much noise at night in some shelters, we can't get more than maybe 5 hours of sleep.'
'Then we have to go out and do the same thing all over again. Every day we spend 8 to 10 hours ether in a line or walking a half hour or an hour to go get to another line.'
' And most Shelter Meals don't have enough calories to do much else.... we have to eat several meals just to keep up energy to walk with backpacks and bags all day.'
'Take a look at these shelter meals being served, month after month.
